WI Photographic Walk, Monday 11th May 2026

Members from several of our WIs were delighted to learn how to make the most of their mobile phone cameras on 11 May when Andrew Atkins, award-winning professional nature photographer, came to WI House, Thirsk on Monday 11 May. The eleven students absorbed his advice before venturing onto the greensward to take photos of the church, wild flowers, the river and bridges. “We learnt not to be afraid of our cameras” was the general feeling.

Thank you for organising the mobile phone photography instruction event, where I and eleven more ladies were given very helpful  tips as to how to use our mobile phones more effectively when taking photographs.
Later Andrew Atkins took us around the local area and showed us how to take more  interesting shots of the trees, flowers, river and buildings,-  although it was bitterly cold, we learnt various tips on capturing much better photographs, and this was followed by a welcome warming cuppa back at WI house.
