Rob Oldfield is a gilder, typographer and educator with nearly forty years’ experience, working in museums and historic interiors.  He recognizes the importance of crafts like gilding, and he has a desire to pass on his knowledge so that it does not become yet another ‘forgotten art’ in an increasingly digital world. Gilding is a decorative technique for applying a very thin coating of gold to solid surfaces. The effect is beautiful, and this is a rare opportunity to learn it yourself.

Rob will provide all materials including imitation metal leaf and real gold leaf too!  Objects to gild will also be provided but Rob has said that, should you have any small belongings of your own that you would like to cover in gold then please feel free to bring them.  Obviously, nothing soft or fluffy!!
